Clients are liable to pay the full amount for the session on the day of the session.
If clients have a valid mental health care plan then rebates may be available. Unfortunately I do not run a bulk bill practice. Your session fees need to be paid in full. If you have a mental health care plan, then your Medicare rebate will be refunded into your bank account by Medicare.
Many people find tele-health, online therapy, or telephone therapy far more convenient than its traditional counterpart. With therapy online, you can get help from the comfort and security of your own home or another safe place. In addition to making it more convenient, this makes it more discreet. Anybody with a stable internet connection can use online counselling, making it particularly useful for individuals with reduced mobility or who reside in rural communities.
Studies on the effectiveness of online therapy show it is as effective as traditional, in-person therapy for many of the most common mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, and addiction.
Psychotherapy is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the psychologist and patient, and the particular problems you bring forward. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the problems that you hope to address. Psychotherapy is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part.
In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and at home.
Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, in the short term you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. Some temporary emotional distress is possible. On the other hand, psychotherapy has also been shown to have benefits for people who go through it. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. The aim of psychotherapy is to bring about positive change.
